Walking for Big Pas
Walking for Big Pas
Story
In July 2008, after an 8 month battle with Pancreatic Cancer, our beloved Dad, Husband, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend, Paul Pasco passed away at 50 years old. As we approach what would have been his 60th Birthday, we continue to remember this mischievous, loveable, funny personality taken from us too soon. We walk in memory of Big Pas and in hope that one day, nobody else has to experience the pain of losing a loved one as we have, to this terrible disease.
In 2018 in excess of 3,100 Australians are estimated to be diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Only 8% of Pancreatic Cancer patients survive more than five years and the median survival rate is between three and six months.
The Avner Pancreatic Cancer Foundation is the only Foundation in Australia dedicated exclusively to Pancreatic Cancer.
The Vision of the Foundation is - "To break through 40 years of no progress by doubling the number of people who survive Pancreatic Cancer by 2020"
We are aiming to raise money to assist the Avner Foundation in achieving this vision and we welcome any contribution, great or small, that you can make!
Activity
PanKind Australian Pancreatic Cancer Foundation Limited
Pankind’s mission is to triple the pancreatic cancer survival rate by 2030 and significantly improve the quality of life for those impacted by the disease.
Together with our partners and community, we’re confronting pancreatic cancer head-on. Making progress a reality through groundbreaking research, compassionate support, and tireless advocacy. Because when the stakes are this high, action isn’t just important—it’s essential and urgent.
Pancreatic cancer is the toughest common cancer, and for too long, progress has lagged behind. Survival rates have barely improved in decades, leaving people diagnosed feeling overwhelmed and uncertain. We’re determined to change this. We are the only Australian organisation solely dedicated to improving outcomes for those affected by pancreatic cancer.
